CONMED Corporation to Participate in the Society of Robotic Surgery Annual Meeting
Professor Nikhil Vasdev to Present Results of a Recently Published Clinical Trial Featuring AirSeal® technology
CONMED Corporation (NYSE:CNMD) today announced its participation in the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS) 2026 Annual Meeting, which is being held July 23-26, 2026 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
During the meeting, Professor Nikhil Vasdev, FRCS (Urol), MCh (Urol), DSc will present data from a prospective randomized controlled clinical trial conducted by Vasdev et al., which investigated differences in the levels of intraoperative and post-operative pain between two abdominal insufflators, CONMED’s AirSeal® Insufflation System and Stryker’s PneumoClear Insufflator.
TITLE: Utilising intra-operative artificial intelligence to investigate the difference in nociceptive stimulus between 2 different abdominal insufflators during a Robotic Prostatectomy (RALP Clinical Trial)
DATE: Friday, July 24
TIME: 8:02 AM ET
LOCATION: 314
The trial included 40 patients with localized prostate cancer who underwent a robotic prostatectomy, with either AirSeal or PneumoClear used for the management of low-pressure pneumoperitoneum (8 mmHg). Differences in the levels of significant intra-operative nociception between the two insufflators were recorded using an artificial intelligence device. The AirSeal arm of the trial had fewer significant nociceptive events per recorded hour than the PneumoClear arm (20.7 vs. 33.5, p = 0.041). Additionally, shorter procedure times (p = 0.045), console times (p = 0.045), and blood loss (p < 0.001) were seen in the AirSeal arm. The results of the trial were published in the open access journal, JUI Compass, in May, 2026 and are available via the following link: https://bjui-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/bco2.70226
In connection with its participation, CONMED will host a session that explores how low-pressure insufflation is redefining intraoperative performance to support surgical efficiency and enable enhanced patient recovery. The session will feature Amit Taggar, MD, FACS, FAMBS, FICS, Gabe Mena, MD FASA, Philip Woodworth, MD, FACS, and Rahila Essani, MD, FACS, FACRS.
