eBay Appoints Brie Welch as Resident Stylist and Debuts 'eBay Watchlist' Trend Report

Based on buying behavior of 134 million users, the Watchlist reveals the most coveted brands right now and what shoppers are searching for this spring 

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, eBay announces the appointment of fashion stylist Brie Welch as its Resident Stylist. New York-based Welch draws on her experience styling for high-profile clients like Katie Holmes and brands like Bulgari, Givenchy, and Ferragamo to demonstrate how eBay's vast inventory can inspire a first-choice style statement.

In the role, Welch will serve as the brand's fashion authority – identifying trends, offering expert commentary, and spotlighting eBay's assortment of pre-loved, branded fashion. The launch of the eBay Watchlist, a new trend report driven by shopper data, is informed by Welch's whimsical take on pre-loved style.

The Watchlist is powered by real-time marketplace insights drawn from the shopping behavior of eBay's nearly 134 million users and 2.3 billion listings. Pre-loved fashion is becoming the cultural norm; in fact, in 2024, nearly 40% of all clothing, shoes and accessories sold on eBay were listed as pre-loved, and global users searched for "vintage" more than 1200 times per minute.

In each edition, Welch spotlights the movement towards circularity and the key trends shaping it – curating finds from eBay's extensive selection of pre-loved fashion, from in-season designer must-haves to prized pieces from previous seasons. Through her unique perspective, Welch invites shoppers to reimagine how they engage with fashion and build their wardrobe.

• WELL SUITED: Power dressing is having a resurgence for fashion-savvy shoppers who are turning to eBay to find pieces that channel authority with a twist. Searches for "cinched blazer" and "oversized suit" 209% and 87%, with brands like Balenciaga and Miu Miu topping growth.
• FUNCTION FIRST: Utilitarian fashion is getting a fresh spin where function meets flair, with searches for "barrel jeans" up 130%. Top-reigning brands like Wrangler and Timberland were searched 37 and 20 times a minute on average in 2025 so far.
• DYED IN DUSK: Shoppers are embracing a softer kind of storytelling anchored in pastel tones and playful details that spark a sense of wonder. This season, it's all about dreamlike touches, from butter yellow dresses, up 656%, to accessories that spark childlike joy – like the Seiko Half Moon Watch, up 430%.
• BLUE HUES: Denim reigns supreme in a range of washes and silhouettes, cementing its place as a forever favorite. Only now, it's all about versatility: searches for "jeans from Japan" and "selvedge denim" are up 68% and 46% respectively.
